Frances Smith Trophy Rules

A qualifying round off handicap shall be played in each club, in conjunction with any nominated 18 hole stroke play competition. The player with the best nett score shall be deemed to be the Club's representative in the final, providing that this is the club from which she pays her County Subscription. If a player is a member of more than one club she must notify the Hon. Treasurer which club she wishes to represent for all County Competitions, (If she is not available or eligible, the second best nett etc.). Two reserves must be nominated, in the event that the original representative is unable to take part in the Final. Handicap limit 40.

The Club's representative will play a maximum of 18 holes stroke-play off handicap in the final, the best nett score being the winner.

Ties will be decided on the last 9, 6, 3 or 1 hole(s) of the round and if a tie still arises it shall be decided on the last 9, 6, 3,or 1 hole(s) of the first nine holes of the round.


There will be no entrance fee, but there will be a gratuity, payable by the club at the time of entry. This gratuity will rise with inflation, to cover any increases in the cost of facility fees.

The winner will hold the trophy for one year.

The donors of the Trophy expressed a wish that it should be kept at the Club of the winner and, as it is a Rose Bowl, be used for floral arrangements, so that all may enjoy it.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd nett
