Lancashire Ladies

Honorary Life Member

Angela Caton, Pleasington Golf Club

Once in a while you come across a gem of a person who is willing to give their time and effort into making sure that something important runs smoothly and efficiently.

Angela has put her heart and soul into Lancashire Ladies County Golf for over 50 years. She has been the County President for 3 years, County Captain, County Training Officer and County Junior Organiser.

Born into a golfing family her father, who was a Bolton Champion more than once, took her to Junior lessons at the golf club on Saturday and they would play as a family on Sundays. Her sister went on to become an English Champion twice and a Curtis Cup player, but in 1962 Angela beat her illustrious sister to win the Lady Derby Challenge Cup. Both her mother and aunt went on to be County Captains. Lancashire Ladies was in her veins from the very beginning.

In 2008 Angela was nominated in the National Golf Volunteer of the Year Award and won the ‘Services to Golf Lifetime Achievement Award’ and was presented with the award at the National Golf Centre at Woodhall Spa. A very richly deserved award.

We as a County now award her the ultimate accolade of Honorary Life Membership of Lancashire Ladies' County Golf Association.

Angela we cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for us, it has been truly inspirational.
