Lancashire Ladies County Golf Association

Tha annual battle for the Manning Plate between the Lancashire Union Executive and the Lancashire County Ladies team ,took place at Huyton & Prescot  Thursday 14th September 2008. The ladies were successful, winning by 4 matches to 2 matches. The first two matches went to President Michael Yates and his partner Terry Horrocks 1up against County Captain & County President, and Cliff Bowman and Tony McMunn beating Jane McMunn and Joyce Ryder 4/3. Then came the onslaught. Brenda Flett and Audrey McClelland 3/1 over Barry Birtwistle and Keith Gardner. Wendy Garforth and Di Vaux 4/3 against C. Ingham and T Rawson. Agnes King and Linda Marr took L. Wilson and D Jones to the 18th hole winning 1 up, and finallyMarjorie Bray and Jackie Snowdon completed the rout by beating L.Wilson and P.Burton.

Where is the Manning Plate??!!?? 

Unfortunately the Manning Plate did not arrive, but the President quickly found a substitute Plate

The match was played in good spirits even though the Union Team manipulated the shots. (ha ha)  I don’t know what price they paid the green keeper for him  to place the Yellow tees almost next to the Ladies Red tees.

Only joking gentlemen. we look forward to the re match next year.

The Bronze Handicap Shield final was held at Ashton on Lea Tuesday 23rd September.
