Final results in Abu Dhabi

ogan Townend (Pleasington) and Elizabeth Stebbings (Wilpshire) finished 6th and 7th after the final round of the Abu Dhabi Junior Championship (Daily Telegraph Young Golfer of the Year).
Hayley Davis (Ferndown) retained the Girls' title.

Brogan Townend (Pleasington) and Elizabeth Stebbings (Wilpshire) both scored 75, 3 over par, in the first round of the Abu Dhabi Junior Championship (Daily Telegraph Young Golfer of the Year).
They are lying in 5th place, 6 shots behind the leader Amy Boulden (Maesdu).
There are 2 more rounds to be played.

Brogan Townend to join Texas-San Antonio University

Brogan Townend (Pleasington), Lancashire Junior Champion, is the latest England Squad player to sign a letter of intent to join an American University next August.
She will be the first English golfer to attend Texas-San Antonio.
Next week Brogan and Elizabeth Stebbings (Wilpshire) will play in the Finals of the Daily Telegraph Young Golfer of the Year in Abu Dhabi.

LaLaura Jura Johnson wins LGGA Rose Bowl

Laura Johnson (Bolton Old Links) has won the 2011 LGGA Rose Bowl with a score of 140 nett, 71 in the Spring Meeting at Clitheroe GC and 69 nett in the Autumn Meeting at Wigan GC.
Louisa Brunt (Ashton-under-Lyne) was the Runner-up, just one shot behind with scores of 68 andLouisa 73.

Fun Day for LGGA MembersHart Common
This took place at Hart Common GC on Wednesday 26 October. All the competitors and their partners enjoyed their golf played in good weather.
There was an 18 hole competition for girls with a Congu handicap on the main course.
All other LGGA members were invited to play in the 9 hole competiton on the par 3 course.
After the prize giving there was a Hot Pot Lunch..

Lancs girlsThe 2011 Lancashire Girls versus Lancashire Boys match was played at Fleetwood GC on Sunday 09 October in wet and windy conditions.
The Boys team led by 4 matches to 1 after the morning foursomes and went on to win the match by 8.5 matches to 6.5 even though the girls came back strongly in the afternoon singles matches.

The Silver Division winner was Sophie Potter (Colne), Sophie Powell (Manchester) won the Best Gross prize.

Megan Cullen wins National Skills Test
Megan Cullen (Heysham) won the 12-14 Age Group title in the EGU/EWGA 2011 National Skills Finals at the  EGU National Golf Centre Woodhall Spa .
Two other Lancashire girls won through to the Finals. Thiari Naing (West Lancashire) was in the Rookie Class for 9-11 year olds and Courtney Milburn (Heysham) who was a winner in 2010, was in the 15-17 Age Group.

The 54 hole event will be played at Abu Dhabi GC from 22-24 November.

Brogan is Faldo Series Girl Champion for 2011
Brogan Townend (Pleasington) was crowned the Faldo Series Girls' Champion at Lough Erne GC when she finished with a final round of 71 to win the European Grand BroganFinal by 5 shots.
Brogan wins a start in a Professional tournament and will go to Mission Hills GC in China next March for the Asia Grand Final.
Sophie Powell (Manchester) finished 7th and Eloise Healey (West Lancashire) was a creditable 12th in the Under 16s Final.

ErinHollie7 junior girls helped Lancashire to beat Yorkshire B in an exciting match at Formby Ladies' GC.
Hollie Vizard, Lucie Walker, Sophie Speariett, Sophie Lamb, Erin Porter, Eloise Healey and Amelia Taylor all played their part in this exciting win that came when Eloise halved her match on the last green.

Hollie Vizard (Pleasington) and Lucie Walker (Ormskirk) helped the English Schools' team to halve the annual match with the Welsh Schools' at Copt Heath GC, West Midlands.
The Lancashire girls played together in the foursomes and won their match. Hollie added another point with her singles win.

Sophie Lamb wins U14s trophy in Northern Girls'
13 year old Sophie Lamb (Clitheroe) won the U14s trophy in the Northern Girls' Championship at Durham City GC. She won the trophy presented by the Liverpool Society of Lady Past Captains' with rounds of 78+77 for a total of 155.
Hollie Vizard (Pleasington) took the Best Nett prize in the 16-18 age group and County Champion Emma Harris (Peel Ladies') had the best morning gross score.

Lancashire team make good start at Junior Jamboree 
Linda Marr, County Junior Organiser, was very pleased with her young team of 6 players after the Stableford Competition on the first day of the Northern Counties' Junior Jamboree at Furness GC, Cumbria.
Our top scores were Alex Forrest (Longridge) with 40 points, Louisa Brunt (Ashton-under-Lyne) 36 and Rosie Devereux (Fishwick Hall) 35.
Tomorrow the match play will determine the winning county.
The players must have a handicap of no less than 12.

Top 10 finish for 3 Lancashire players in English Girls'
After 72 holes in the English Girls' Championship at Ellesborough GC, Bucks, Elizabeth Stebbings (Wilpshire) finished 7th. Bethany Garton (Royal Lytham) and Brogan Townend (Pleasington) were 10th=  with 302.
Emma Harris (Peel Ladies') was 25th in the Under 15s Championship and "Rookie" Holly Muse (West Lancashire) finished 12th in the Under 13s Championship.

There are 14 Lancashire girls playing in the 3 English Championships being played in Buckinghamshire at Mentmore and Ellesborough GCs from 26 - 28 July..
County Junior Champion Brogan Townend (Pleasington) leadis the challenge in the main Championship. County Champion Emma Harris (Peel Ladies') is in the Under 15s age group.
4 of our youngest silver division golfers play in the Under 13s age .

Emma Harris wins Isle of Man Championship again
Lancashire Champion Emma Harris (Peel Ladies') won the 2011 Isle of Man Ladies' Championship for the 4th time when she beat a former Champion, Cath Preston, in the 36 hole Final played at Douglas Ladies' Golf Club.

Still time to enter Dads and Daughter inaugural competition
The closing date for entries for a national Fathers and Daughters competition, to be staged in the autumn, has been extended until August 20. More than 60 players have entered the inaugural event at Tadmarton Heath Golf Club in Oxfordshire on Saturday, September 3 but the club has room for a few more.
“I am very pleased with the response so far,” said organiser Barbara Round. “We thought we would extend the deadline to give people more time to enter. When you launch a new competition like this it can take a while for word to get around.”
The 27-hole foursomes medal is open to fathers and daughters of any age with active CONGU handicaps. Entry forms can be downloaded from the Tadmarton Heath website at www.tadmartongolf.co.uk

Brogan Townend retains the Junior Championship Junior Champion
Brogan Townend (Pleasington) retained the LLCGA Junior Championship title that she won in 2010 at Hesketh GC with a 1 under par total of 147 gross.  Bethany Garton (Royal Lytham) was second and Hollie Vizard third both 5 shots behind with 152 gross.
Louisa Brunt (Ashton-under-Lyne) took the nett aggregate prize. CSS 74 both rounds.
The 18 holes Stableford competition for Bronze Division players was won by Thiri Naing (West Lancashire).

England win Silver in European Girls' Championships  Emily EWGA
England and France shared the foursomes at Is Molas GC, Sardinia after Emily Taylor (Royal Lytham) and Bronte Law (Cheshire) again won their foursomes match.
The deciding singles match went to the 20th hole before France beat England by 4 matches to 3 to win the gold medals and leave the England team in second place after a thrilling contest of top quality golf in very hot conditions.
In the

Emily Taylor stars again in  Sardinia 
Emily Taylor's (Royal Lytham) 67 gross to add to her score of 70 yesterday helped England to finish in first place after the 2 qualifying rounds of the European Girls' Championships at Is Molas GC, Sardinia. She had the best aggregate of all competitors. Tomorrow England play Italy in the first match play knock-out round.
In the
 European Ladies' Championships at Murhof GC, Austria, England qualified for the top flight in 6th place and face Spain tomorrow. Kelly Tidy's (Royal Birkdale) 74 was again one of the team's counting scores.

Hart Common 9 hole Competition
HCCongratulations to all the girls who played in the 9 hole Competition at Hart Common par 3 Course today in cold, wet and windy weather - every competitor was great!

The Winners were:
1st    Molly Bridge  32 points,   2nd   Sophie Beagan  29 points   3rd   Katie Barlow  27 points.
Mollie and Katie also had a 2 in their round.

Katie-Jane Stanley (Manchester) had her first a hole in one at the age of 12 when she holed her tee shot at the 13th hole at Manchester GC.
The par 3 hole measures 129 yards.

US Kids Golf European Finals 2011

In the US Kids Golf European Finals played at Gullane Number 3 this week Sophie Lamb (Clitheroe) finished 4th in the 13 years Age Group to win a trophy and an invitation to the World Finals at Pinehurst GC USA in August.
She secured her place with a fine 73 gross (+4) in the final round.
Players aged from 8 - 18 came from countries that included Austria, France, Ukraine, Venezuala and Japan.
Other Lancashire girls who enjoyed this great week were Amelia Taylor, Georgina Beechey and Georgia Oboh.

3 Lancashire girls qualify for the National Schools' Final Eloise

Eloise Healey (West Lancashire), Lucie Walker (Ormskirk) and Hollie Vizard (Pleasington) qualified for the English Schools' Golf Association Girls' Final when they finished in the top 5 girls at the Northern Schools' Championship at Whickham GC, Durham yesterday.
Eloise's 150 gross (+2) put her in second place. Hollie was 4th with 156 gross and Lucie 5th with 157 gross.
They will now play at Belton Park GC, Grantham, Lincolnshire on Monday 27 June.

LGGA Card Marking Day
If your handicap is between 30 and 36 congu don't miss the chance to play in the LGGA Card Marking Day on Thursday 02 June at Royal Lytham on their short course that is a 9 hole seperate course from their Championship one.
It is a good opportunity to reduce your handicap and go to the club where the Open Championship will be held in 2012.
There is also a competition for girls with a club handicap, 37 - 54 and for those who want to start getting one.
Next Hart Common 9 hole competition is on Sunday 12 June.

Golfing fathers and daughters are being sought for a new, national competition being launched this autumn.
The 27-hole foursomes medal will take place at Tadmarton Heath in Oxfordshire on Saturday, September 3.
The competition is open to fathers and daughters of any age with active CONGU handicaps.
Entry forms can be downloaded from the Tadmarton Heath website at www.tadmartongolf.co.uk. The closing date is July 16.

Brian Connor, PGA Professional gave the girls golf instruction and there were competitions for them.

Elizabeth Stebbings is Girls' runner-up in Fairhaven Trophy
ElizStebElizabeth Stebbings (Wilpshire) finished Girls' runner-up in the 72 holes Fairhaven Trophy, just one shot behind Amber Ratcliffe (Royal Cromer) with a total of 316.
Steady play and great putting in the 3rd round saw Elizabeth draw level with Amber on another difficult scoring day with a strong wind blowing across the course.
In the final round Amber's 80, finishing with an eagle 3, was just one better than Elizabeth's brave 81.
It was a family affair with younger sister Alicia caddying for Ellizabeth.

Elizabeth Stebbings makes the cut in Fairhaven Trophy
Elizabeth Stebbings (Wilpshire) is the only Lancashire girl to make the cut for the last 2 rounds of the Fairhaven Trophy to be played tomorrow.
She had another great 78 gross in difficult windy conditions.
Elizabeth, with a score of 156, is tied 18th overall but 2nd equal in the Girls' event with Shelby Smart (Knowle) only 1 shot behind Amber Ratcliffe (Royal Cromer).

Brogan for England and a strong Lancashire entry for Fairhaven Trophyfairhaven

Brogan Townend (Pleasington), last year's runner-up to Emily Taylor (Royal Lytham & St Annes), is a member of an England team for the Nations' Cup.
She also leads the Lancashire challenge in an international field of junior competitors for the Fairhaven Trophy starting on Friday 29 April.
This 72 hole tournament has 18 holes on Friday and Saturday and a cut for the top 40 players for 36 holes on Sunday.

Emily Taylor loses in second round of Esmond Trophy in Paris
Emily Taylor (Royal Lytham & St Annes) lost a thrilling second round match, full of birdies,  against Johanna Tillitson (Sweden) in the Esmond Trophy in the  French Lady Junior Championship at St Cloud GC, Paris. when she was beaten at the 19th.  In the morning she had defeated Noemi Jiminez Martin (Spain).

Emily Taylor qualifies for French Under 21s Championsip match play
Emily Taylor (Royal Lytham & St Annes), aged 16, qualified comfortably for the match play stages of the French Lady Junior Championship at St Cloud GC, Paris, with scores of 73 and 74. 
She joins 3 other English girls and  28 top European girls to contest the Esmond Trophy.

Brogan + Eloise qualify for Faldo Series Grand European Finals
In the Faldo Series UK Championships at West Lancashire GC on 21/22 April, Brogan Townend (Pleasington) and Eloise Healey (West Lancashire) won their age groups to qualify for the Faldo Series Grand European Finals.
In the Under 21s competition Brogan's rounds of 70+72=142, 6 under par, left her 8 shots ahead of Elizabeth Stebbings (Wilpshire) who scored 76+74=150.
In the Under 16s competition Eloise Healey (West Lancashire), aged 13, also scored 76+74=150. Her second round included an Eagle and 2 Birdies.
Brogan and Eloise will now play at the Loch Erne Golf Resort, Northern Ireland, in the Faldo Series Grand European Finals from 12 - 14 September.
Sophie Powell (Manchester) has already won her place there by winning the previous Faldo qualifying round at Mbroganoortown GC, Yorkshire.                                 eloise

Introduction to Golf Days
The second Introduction to Golf day took place on Thursday 21 April at Preston Golf Club Academy. Girls who have recently joined a Lancashire Golf Club or have just started playing came to meet Linda Marr and other County officials.
Andrew Greenbank, PGA Professional gave the girls golf instruction and there were competitions for them. Each session lasted about 2 hours.

Lancashire Junior team defeat Cumbria Girls by 4.5 - 3.5

The Lancashire Junior team beat the Cumbria Girls' team at Blackpool North Shore GC on 20 April in a very exciting match. Gemma Batty (St Annes Old Links) secured half a point in the top match. Sophie Lamb (Clitheroe), Victoria Bithell (Haydock Park) and Holly Muse (West Lancashire) all won their matches before Katie-Jane Stanley won the 18th to give her a win and  Lancashire the vital winning point.

Lancashire Ladies' County Championship

   Now is the time to enter the County Championship 2011, from
   30 May to 01 June, to be played at Ormskirk Golf Club.

Emily Taylor (Royal Lytham & St Annes GC), aged 16, has been selected for the EWGA Squad for the French Lady Junior Championship and Vilmorin Trophy at St Cloud GC, Paris from 21 - 25 April 2011. This is a top European event for players aged under 21.

England honour for Emma Harris      

LGGA Member, Emma Harris (Peel Ladies' GC), aged 15, is one of the six talented teenagers chosen to represent England at the Scottish Under16 Open Stroke Play Championship at Strathmore GC from 14-16 April.
Emma is a member of the EWGA Select North Squad. She was the Under 14's winner at the Northern Girls'  and North of England Championships in 2010.
Emma has won the Isle of Man Ladies' Championship for the last 3 years and has played for the Lancashire B and Junior teams.

The AGM took place on Sunday 06 March at Preston Golf Club. Janette Smart, LLCGA Captain 2010 presented the trophies to the winners.  Lora Fairclough, former LGGA member and LET Professional was the Guest Speaker.

New Closing Date For Faldo Series UK Entries
The Faldo Series Europe has extended the closing date for entries into their 9 UK events until Monday 07 March. There are 9 events in England, Scotland and Wales, starting at Moortown GC, Yorkshire on 06 April followed by the West Lancashire GC on 20 April.  The European Finals are at Lough Erne Resort, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland on 12-14 September. The 5 group winners will be invited to the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final at Mission Hills GC, China in March 2012.
This event is open to competitors born in 1990 and onwards. Enter by logging onto the new online entry system at http://www.nickfaldo.com/
