October 2014 From the Captain
, Mrs Jennifer Fallows
The LLCGA golf events for the Ladies are now complete with the Shield finals being concluded in September.
There only remains the Autumn Meeting for the Juniors at Formby Ladies' Golf Club, a Fun Day at Royal Lytham & St Annes Short Course and our annual friendly fixture against Cumbria to complete.
The draw for the Scratch Shield competition for 2015 will take place this month and be announced at the Council Meeting on Monday 27th October.
You will have seen from the September letter that we are asking those clubs entering the Scratch Shield to have their Scratch Shield Captain attend the Council Meeting as well as the two club Representatives.
We would like the Scratch Team Captains to organise the matches at the Council Meeting so that these can have been agreed before the Handicap and Bronze Shield Draws take place. This is a change to the usual procedure is going back to how these matches were arranged a few years ago.

West Indies Here We Come
That is the message from a trio of lady golfers from St Annes Old Links. Chris Appleby, Pat Vickers and Jackie Halstead have qualified to represent Europe in the final of the Virgin Flying Club Swingers Season 11 competition in Barbados from Nov 10 - 13th.
The trio, made up of one player from each of the handicap divisions, will play in a Ryder Cup style tournament for Europe against the Rest of the World.
This is truly a global event and one to savour for the St Annes threesome.Twenty four golfers will be in action from all over the world including Australia, the United Stated and India. Chris, Pat and Jackie put their success down to the wonderful condition of St Annes Old Links this year, enabling them to play their very best golf in order to qualify.

Lancashire Golf's Regional Training 2014-2015
The Lancashire Union of Golf Clubs and the Lancashire Ladies' County Golf Association are launching a new County Academy Programme (CAP) in January 2015 for players aged 14 to 18 years old. This compliments the existing under 14 regional programme launched in 2014 and will provide a complete pathway for boys and girls to develop their talent to the highest potential level. The six regional training centres for girls aged under 14 will continue as they have done in 2014.
All players who were included in these squads this year must apply to continue in the 2015 training programme if they wish to do so.
New players always very welcome!
