22 January 2012 Distance Measuring Devices (DMDs)
In recent years the LLCGA has followed the recommendation of EWGA in the use of distance measuring devices in competition. Following the recent decision taken by the EWGA Operational Board to allow the use of DMDs in all their competitions, the LLCGA Executive Committee has decided to permit the use of DMDs in all Lancashire competitions with immediate effect.
The following Local Rule will be in place for all LLCGA competitions:
"For all play in LLCGA competitions, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect her play (e.g. gradient, windspeed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used."
Players are reminded that in order to use DMDs in club qualifying rounds of LLCGA competitions (e.g. Scott Leggatt, Frances Smith) the same local rule must be in place at their club. |
