From the Captain, Mrs Val Moran

I am sad to report that one of the County's most distinguished Past Captains and Presidents, Mrs Mildred Greenhalgh, sadly passed away on 22nd April 2012.
Mildred's enthusiasm for the game touched all who knew her.  She was a remarkable and very special lady. A profile of Mildred's golfing career, ties to the County and details of a Service of Thanksgiving on the 21st May are on the News page.
Sincere condolences to our President, Angela and her family.

Our 2012 season is well underway. On the immediate horizon are the Divisional Inter-Club Qualifying Rounds, Junior Matches against Fylde Boys' and Durham Girls' and the LGGA Stroke Play Competition at Blackley GC.
Final preparations for the County Championship at Manchester Golf Club are progressing well. 

Many of our girls have entered the English Women's Close Championship at Royal Birkdale (15-17th May) and I am sure they would appreciate support from the County. We wish them lots of luck.

Congratulations to both Fiona Anderson and Helen Braddock who contested the final of the Lancashire Veterans' Championship at Formby Ladies' on 2nd May. Fiona won a closely fought match to become the 2012 Champion.
Congratulations also to Bet Burns (Penwortham GC) the Lancashire Veterans' Vice Captain for 2013.

Kelly Tidy is English Women's Champion 

Kelly Tidy (Royal Birkdale), playing on her home course, won a thrilling contest with Dorset's Georgia Hall to become the 2012 English Women's Champion.
Kelly won at the first sudden hole hole with a birdie, having also birdied the 18th to force the play-off.
Emily Taylor (Royal Lytham) finished 5th after a final round of 72.

Northern Ladies' Championship

Message from Carol Ramsay, EWGA Northern Ladies' Championship Organiser to all Silver Division players:

The Northern Ladies' Championship will be played from 18 -20 July at Hexham Golf Club, Northumberland.  All lady and junior girl players with an active handicap of 20 or less are welcome to enter. A competition for players aged between 18 and 25, stableford (handicap limit 36) and team competitions are included.
Entries close on Wednesday 20 June.
